The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) was invited to participate in the fourth Container Shipping Summit, hosted by Ocean Network Express (ONE) in Hong Kong on 26 March 2025. The summit gathered academic leaders from across Asia to discuss sustainable development in container shipping and promote collaboration between industry and academia.

The Container Shipping Summit, launched by ONE, unites industry experts and academics to tackle key challenges in container shipping. It fosters practical solutions, sparking joint research and expanding university internship programs to enhance global supply chains and support communities.

Supply Chain Excellence and Innovation Centre (SEIC) contributed to panel discussions on key topics, including global trade patterns, technological innovations, and the development of next-generation maritime leaders in Asia. Their participation highlighted the university’s dedication to advancing sustainable practices and fostering innovation within the maritime sector.
The event featured three panel sessions exploring the future of global trade, emerging technology trends, and strategies for nurturing future industry leaders. Alongside HSUHK, distinguished researchers from institutions such as Keio University, National University of Singapore, and The University of Tokyo also shared their insights.

Miss Amy Chan Yuen Man, JP, Deputy Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the HKSAR Government, emphasized Hong Kong’s vital role in the maritime industry during her welcome speech, noting the government’s commitment to enhancing the competitiveness of the city’s maritime and port sectors.
