On October 17, the fourth and final study tour under the Greater Bay Area Innovative Logistics Technology Collaboration Program officially commenced. Delegation members gathered early in the morning at Shenzhen Bay Port in Shenzhen City, and after assembling, they traveled together by coach to the Logistics Park Management Center of DCH Holdings in Xinhui District, Jiangmen City, marking the start of the first stop of the tour.

Upon arriving in Xinhui District, Jiangmen City, the delegation first visited the Logistics Park Management Center of DCH Holdings, where they attended an exchange meeting with representatives from DCH Holdings, the Jiangmen Logistics Association, and other industry representatives. Founded in 1949, DCH Holdings now operates across 13 Asian economies, with businesses encompassing the distribution of various products, including automobiles, healthcare, electrical appliances, and fast-moving consumer goods. Its consumer goods operations span across Asia, covering brand development, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, and retail.

After both sides introduced their respective attendees, the exchange meeting officially began. Mr. Chung Hung Hing, Chairman of the Hong Kong Logistics Association, delivered the opening remarks, expressing hopes that Hong Kong and Guangdong could seize the historic opportunities presented by the Greater Bay Area’s development to strengthen cooperation and achieve greater success. Following this, Mr. Deng Jianliang, President of the Jiangmen Logistics Industry Association, extended a warm welcome to the delegation on behalf of the mainland associations and enterprises. In his speech, he highlighted the Greater Bay Area development strategy and expressed hope for continued exchanges in the future. Subsequently, Mr. Zhao Ruqiang, Senior Manager of DCH Logistics, provided a comprehensive overview of DCH Holdings and expressed optimism about future collaborations.

The meeting then proceeded to an interactive session, during which representatives from both sides actively participated. In addition to introducing themselves and their companies, they shared insightful perspectives on strengthening bilateral cooperation, industry development trends, Hong Kong-Guangdong collaboration models, and prospects for the Greater Bay Area.

The meeting concluded with a memorandum of cooperation signing ceremony and a certificate of appreciation presentation. During the signing ceremony, Chairman Chung Hung Hing and President Deng Jianliang, representing the Hong Kong Logistics Association and the Jiangmen Logistics Industry Association respectively, signed a memorandum of cooperation and development, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration. In the subsequent certificate presentation ceremony, Chairman Chung, on behalf of the delegation, presented certificates of appreciation to Mr. Li Xiangxian, Chairman of Guangdong Hurun Enterprise Group, and Mr. Zhao Ruqiang, Senior Manager of DCH Logistics.

After the exchange meeting, under the guidance of President Deng Jianliang, the delegation visited DCH’s Macau and Portuguese-speaking Countries Commodity Exhibition and Sales Center, where further discussions on bilateral cooperation took place. The visit to DCH concluded with a luncheon, during which representatives from both sides engaged in relaxed discussions about future exchanges and cooperation.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Chenpi Cultural Experience Center in Chenpi Village, Xinhui District, for an exchange and study session. A guide at the center explained that chenpi (dried tangerine peel) has a long history of use, documented in Li Shizhen’s Compendium of Materia Medica, and holds significant value in culinary, medicinal, and collectible applications. During the visit, the guide provided a detailed overview of chenpi’s cultivation, production, storage, and industrial chain, highlighting the regional and product advantages of Xinhui chenpi. The delegation then proceeded to the Standard Warehousing Center in Chenpi Village, where they observed the logistics and storage operations of chenpi. The automated warehousing processes at the center particularly caught the delegation’s attention. After learning about the wholesale supply chain of chenpi, the delegation departed Chenpi Village to continue their afternoon itinerary at Infinitus (China) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Lee Kum Kee Health Products Group.
Infinitus (China) Co., Ltd., established in 1992 and headquartered in Guangzhou, China, is a large-scale modern enterprise engaged in the research, production, sales, and service of Chinese herbal health products. With over 4,700 employees, the company achieved sales of 24.9 billion RMB in 2018, surpassing Amway to become China’s largest direct sales company.
During the visit to Infinitus, the delegation gained an in-depth understanding of the company’s corporate culture and management philosophy through watching videos, touring the facilities, and engaging in interactive exchanges. They also observed Infinitus’ highly automated production lines and learned about the company’s successful practices in quality control and supply chain management.
After completing the visit to Infinitus, the delegation traveled by coach to the Sanshui Campus of Guangzhou College of Commerce in Sanshui District, Foshan City. Upon arrival, the delegation dined quickly with the college’s leaders and faculty before heading to a meeting arranged for interaction with freshmen students.
At the exchange session with the students, a college leader delivered a welcome address, noting that the attending students were enrolled in logistics-related programs and expressing heartfelt gratitude to the delegation for taking time from their busy schedule to provide guidance. Subsequently, Mr. Chung Hung Hing, Chairman of the Hong Kong Logistics Association, spoke on behalf of the delegation. He encouraged the students to aspire to become industry elites and explained that the session would primarily take the form of a Q&A to foster open dialogue. He urged the students to think critically, ask bold questions, and gain valuable insights from the exchange. The students’ questions focused on logistics knowledge systems, industry trends, personal learning directions, and future career planning, with the delegation providing detailed analyses and explanations in response.

Study Tour to Chencun Flower World, Guotong Logistics Bonded Center, and Attendance at the “Sichuan-Guizhou-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-South Asia International Logistics Corridor: Interim Innovation Achievements and Cooperation Development Conference” (October 18, 2019)

On the morning of October 18, 2019, the delegation remained at Guangzhou College of Commerce to engage in discussions with the college’s leaders, faculty, and students on the development of “industry-academia-research” collaboration in Greater Bay Area logistics. During the exchange, the delegation addressed various questions and concerns raised by faculty and students. For instance, one faculty member highlighted the issue of outdated textbooks, noting that much of the data in the materials was over a decade old. In response, the delegation encouraged students to seek practical experience and internships outside the classroom to stay updated with the latest industry information. At the conclusion of the session, Mr. Ken Chung, Chairman of the Chamber of Hong Kong Logistics Industry, expressed his hope to return the following year to share the latest international standards in detail with faculty and students.

Following the exchange at Guangzhou College of Commerce, the delegation traveled to Shunde to visit Chencun Flower World and a nearby logistics park. Chencun Flower World integrates five key functions: flower production, sales, tourism, research, and information services. It hosts numerous domestic and international flower traders and related enterprises, making it one of the largest flower trading markets in China. Due to the large area and dispersed functional zones of Chencun Flower World and the logistics park, the visit was conducted through a guided bus tour accompanied by introductions from relevant personnel.

Subsequently, the delegation attended a luncheon hosted by logistics and freight company executives and association leaders from Foshan. During the luncheon, attendees and delegation members briefly introduced themselves and their organizations, followed by an open discussion session. This exchange allowed participants to address their respective needs, laying a strong foundation for future cooperation. After the luncheon, guided by personnel from the Guotong Logistics Bonded Center, the delegation toured the center’s bonded warehouse and cold chain facilities.

Immediately following, the delegation proceeded to the Guangzhou Baiyun International Conference Center to participate in the “Sichuan-Guizhou-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-South Asia International Logistics Corridor: Interim Innovation Achievements and Cooperation Development Conference” under the “Belt and Road” initiative.

In the afternoon, the delegation arrived at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Conference Center to attend the “Sichuan-Guizhou-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-South Asia International Logistics Corridor: Interim Innovation Achievements and Cooperation Development Conference” under the “Belt and Road” initiative, co-hosted by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Logistics Industry Alliance and the Guangdong Logistics Association.
